Red Light, Green Light

My new vacuum has a red and green light on it. Red means the carpet that your over is still dirty and the green tells you when it's clean. I never enjoyed vacuuming before and now it's just giving me a complex.

So Ya Had a Bad Day?

Kiss

For the past few days I have caught Sienna kissing random things. Hello wall, kiss, hello book, kiss. I hope this isn't going to be a problem when she gets older.

Christmas Stress *rolling eyes*

I'm starting to stress over Christmas already this year. How sad is that? I promised myself that I was going to take it easy this year and not worry so much about getting EVERYTHING done, but here I am researching gift ideas already.

I was even thinking the other day about having to lug all the decorations down (that have long been covered up by other worthless stuff) and having to decorate. Do you want to know a secret, one of my favorite parts is taking DOWN the decorations and having my house clean and back to normal again. I really do love the holidays, I guess I'm just odd.

Bad job

I've not been doing a very good job at keeping this up this week and I have to promise myself that I'll get better with it. I'm tired tonight and a random thunder and lightening storm just came through. I really need to finish up some work that I have due for tomorrow but I just get sucked into my computer and then *poof* it's 2 hours later and I never even open up my projects.
*Must learn to prioritize.

It's OK

I think it's funny how as your kids go through new stages, you as a parent have to change too.
I was talking to my husband tonight on how I have to change my tactics with the kids, Brandon especially, because most of the time it's just not working. He's getting too old for himself. Does that make sense?
He's 3, I have to keep reminding myself of this daily. He's only 3. He acts so much older sometimes that I just forget.
I have to remember that 3 year olds like to act silly and push your buttons.
I have to remember that it's ok for him to be a little timid sometimes and just experience things first.
I have to remember that it's ok for him not to get along with his sister every waking moment.
And, I have to remember that at only 3 years old he is still my baby boy who I love more then life itself.

Shopping with Pajamas

There was a time where I would have never done this. Now, as I'm growing a little older and I actually stop and think, why not? Tonight I had to run out to pick up something I needed. I had just finished putting the kids in their PJ's when I remembered. I could have re-dressed them and looked presentable or do what I ended up doing and just taking them, cuteness and all. Brandon just had a pair or sweatpants on and a T-shirt so no biggy. Sienna on the other hand had on a purple polka dotted pair of footy pajamas....yes, too cute is she.

So my light bulb moment was this, why should I inconvenience myself by having to wrestle my children (again) to get dressed and then ready for bed (again) because "someone" may look at me out of the side of their head and wonder why my kids are out in the store with their pajamas on?

So there...that's my "ah-ha" moment of the day, I think it was a long time coming.

Today, I Shall Think Different

Broccoli

Last night we had Broccoli for dinner. While fixing the kids their plates they actually started fighting over who had more broccoli, this meaning they WANTED more. I must be doing something right.

Nap Time

Brandon has a tendency to sneak over to my bed and watch tv while he is to be taking a nap. Sleeping in my bed at nap time, fine, watching tv instead of taking a nap, not fine.

So I started taking the remote with me and just laying it at the bottom of the stairs so I remember to take it back up with me at some point. Today, somehow, Brandon managed to open the door, sneak up and down the stairs and retrieve the remote from the steps. All this while I'm literally like 5 feet away.

I heard voices and figured he had just gotten up and turned the tv on manually (imagine that...lol). So I go up stairs and he's sitting there enjoying is cartoons holding onto the remote for dear life. I asked him where he got it and he said that he went down stairs and got it. "You never told me I couldn't go get it Mommy."
Case in point, I must remember to be more specific next time.

I Wanna' go to School!

I signed Brandon up for an exercise type class at out local rec center and his first class was last week. He did great for the first 15-20 minutes and then it was hit or miss as to if he was participating or not. I didn't feel too bad, there were some other children that had no clue there was even a class going on.

After class was over we started talking about how we are going to pay attention next week (I think even a bribe came up, hehe) and he asked if he could go to his class now. I explained to him that that was his class. He then asked me where the tables and chairs were and his teacher. It's not that kind of class buddy!

So today I remind him about his class and he asked if I could just find him a class with a REAL teacher. "I'm ready to go to school Mom, I'm a big boy now." WAHH! Tears and protest coming from me but I just smile and say "Yes honey, you are a big boy now aren't you." "But your still going to finish this class.....lol"

Dr.'s Office

Am I really that difficult to talk to? I'm finding it more and more frustrating to talk to doctor's offices. They act like they are going out of their way to help me. Um, isn't this your job? The staff at these places are horrid, awful and mean. Like I woke up this morning to call your office just to piss you off. I need help and you are offering a service. Aghhh. I'm sorry that me having a problem is inconveniencing you from drinking your Starbucks.

Germs

We went food shopping today and the lady who checked us out was clearly sick. She looked and sounded miserable. So she proceeded to run all my food through the scanner all the while coughing and sneezing all over my stuff. She took several breaks to blow her nose and then of course did not wash or sanitize her hands. I was dying.

So we unloaded the groceries and I was bringing the last few bags in and I found Brandon using his teeth to open his Lunchable that I promised him he could have for lunch. I wonder how much old lady snot was on that one? *sigh*

If your that sick, Please stay home.

WHY?

We have moved into the "Whys" at our house. "Why Mommy?, Why? Why Momma, Why, Why Why?" I can't begin to tell you about the thousands of endless questions I have been bombarded with over the past 2 weeks or so. At first I thought to myself that maybe it wasn't really the "why" stage just him being more inquisitive, but then it never stopped.

I would say we are officially in a phase. I get so tired of answering them all day long that I find myself counting the hours to nap-time or bedtime, "Isn't that horrible?" I mean seriously, my brain hurts.

I remember when I was first a WAHM, Bill would come home from work and all I would want to do is talk. Talk about my day, talk about the baby, just talk with an adult, and he was like "Shut up already!" Now I really don't want to talk at all, I'm all out of words by the time he gets home and I hope that Brandon turns his "Whys" to him, (Sorry hon!).

Spider-man

Today was family fun day. It was truly a great community event and we all found fun things to do.

Brandon wanted to get his face painted so bad but he was scared to death. Why, I don't know. He finally let the girl do it and wanted to be Spider-man. I think he's a pretty cute Sprider-man if I must say so myself.

Please note: Red face paint stains kids faces....soooooo, if your planing on painting your little one's face for Halloween, and they are going to be a strawberry or Elmo or something, be prepared for you kid to run around with a stained red face for a few days.

Back to the Game

I remember going to one of Bill's football games when Brandon was very small (under a year) and thinking will I ever be able to come to another game and actually sit and enjoy it? Fast forward a few years, I took Brandon and Sienna to Daddy's first home game tonight and "sat" on the bleachers and "watched" the game, the band and the cheerleaders. Now don't get me wrong they still acted like a bunch of monkeys but I enjoyed it. It was a different kind of enjoyment that I had a few years ago though. It was a new and better way to watch the game, with my kids, having fun. It was a good night.

Note to Fed-Ex

You really shouldn't pull right in front of someone's house, get out with a package and then walk across the street. It's enough to drive a girl nuts.

This one's for Papa

Thought I'd share a pic from this summer. Papa "hooked" the fish but Brandon and Sienna brought most all of them in.

"Santa, are you coming?"

We closed our pool yesterday (in this heat....what were we thinking??). Anyway, Brandon asked why we were closing it and we told him that it was starting to get cold outside and we showed him the leaves that had fallen into the pool.

He thought for a moment and said, "It snows when it gets cold out right?" "Yes" we told him. "Santa comes when it snows right?" Again, we told him yes. So then in his great 3 year old wisdom he says, "So, were closing the pool, it's getting colder out so it can snow soon. That means Santa can come in one more sleep right?" "No Brandon, I'm afraid it doesn't work like that."

I guess the calendar that I got for Brandon is not working the way I had hoped. We'll have to work on this.
